In today’s world of rapid technological advancement, turning an idea into a protected, market-ready invention is a complex journey. It involves securing intellectual property rights through a solid patent, a step that safeguards your creation and gives it a competitive edge. However, the patent drafting process can be challenging, filled with complex procedures and precise requirements that must be met for a patent to be approved. That’s where Asian Novelty steps in.
Asian Novelty, founded by Eng. Daham Shyamalee, has a vision: to make the patent journey smooth and achievable for inventors across Asia. With her extensive background in engineering, sustainable process development, and international business, Daham understands both the technical and strategic aspects of patenting. She’s backed by WIPO training and years of experience in both private and public sectors, making her uniquely qualified to guide inventors through every stage of the patent process.

1. Ensuring Confidentiality
At Asian Novelty, we know that protecting your idea is just as important as developing it. That’s why we start every project by signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). This NDA guarantees that your idea is secure with us, allowing you to discuss your invention with confidence and peace of mind.
2. Comprehensive Patent Search
After securing confidentiality, our team conducts an in-depth search through patent databases, scientific publications, and other accessible online sources to identify similar inventions. This step is critical in understanding the uniqueness of your idea, a quality known as “novelty.” It also helps us assess whether your invention has potential for patent approval.
3. Reviewing the Report Together
Once the search is complete, we prepare a detailed report that covers our findings and insights about your invention’s novelty, industrial applicability, and non-obviousness. We sit down with you to discuss these results, answering any questions you might have about the process and the potential improvements your invention might need to enhance its chances of approval. At Asian Novelty, we believe that a collaborative approach is the key to creating a patent that truly protects your vision.
4. Drafting the Patent
If the initial report indicates that your invention has patent potential and you’re ready to proceed, we move into the drafting phase. Our team carefully crafts your patent document over two weeks, preparing a draft that’s ready for submission. You’ll have the opportunity to review the draft and suggest minor adjustments, ensuring the document captures every important aspect of your invention.
5. Submission and Examination
Once you’re satisfied, we submit your patent to the National Intellectual Property Office. At this stage, an examiner is assigned to review your application. Much like our initial search, the examiner will check for any existing patents or documents that could impact your invention’s originality. This examination process is thorough and meticulous.
6. Receiving Feedback and Making Adjustments
The examiner will provide a report based on their findings, noting any issues that could affect the approval of your patent. In response, our team collaborates with you to amend the document within the given timeframe, addressing each point with care and precision.
7. Re-Examination and Approval
After submitting the amended document, the examiner will conduct a re-examination. If all requirements are met, your patent will move toward approval. The final stages involve publication in the official gazette and, ultimately, the patent’s granting. The entire process from submission to approval generally takes one to two years.
At Asian Novelty, we’re not just a patent service provider – we’re your partner in bringing transformative ideas to life. Our commitment to quality, confidentiality, and personalized support ensures that your patent application is strong, secure, and set up for success.
